Kamjana Jaruha ( Ukrainian Кам'яна Яруга ; Russian Каменная Яруга Kamen Well Jaruga ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast Kharkiv with about 2100 inhabitants (2001) and the only resort of the same name, 3.69 square kilometers of district municipality in the northwest of Rajon Chuhuiv .
history
The first church in the village, founded as Sloboda in 1647 , was built in 1650 and in 1759 the wooden church of St. Nicholas was built. At that time, limestone was mined in Kamjana Jaruha, which was used to pave the streets in Kharkiv . From 1941 to August 12, 1943 the village was occupied by the Wehrmacht . There has been a natural gas pipeline in the village since September 27, 2000 and work on street lighting in the village began in 2011. In March 2016 in the village the monument to Sergei Kirov was overthrown .
Geographical location
Kamjana Jaruha is located in the Dnieper Lowland (in the Poltawa plane) at an altitude of 160 m to 180 m at the source of Studenok ( Студенок ), a 15 km long, left tributary of the Udy , 9 km northwest of the Rajonzentrum Chuhuiv and 30 km southeast from Kharkiv Oblast Center.
In the south of the village the M 03 trunk road runs from Kharkiv to Rostov-on-Don .
