Franz Kamniker (born September 16, 1870 in Radkersburg ; † February 2, 1928 there ) was an Austrian physician and politician .

Life

Born the son of a businessman, Kamniker studied medicine in Graz after attending the Second State High School in Graz . After he had already become a member of the pennal-conservative fraternity Allemannia Graz during his school days , he became a member of the Marcho-Teutonia Graz fraternity during his studies in 1889 . In 1895 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD .

After a station in Vienna, he became a doctor in Radkersburg. In 1901 he became a local councilor , and in 1912 deputy mayor. In 1918 he became a medical advisor. He was the deputy chairman of the Styrian Medical Association . He was involved in the Greater German People's Association for Styria and was active in the state party leadership of the Greater German People's Party.

After the First World War , he defended himself against Slovenian groups, founded a local guard , was arrested several times and taken hostage . In 1919 he was a member of the German-Austrian peace delegation that met in St. Germain and managed to withdraw the Slovenian troops and keep his hometown and the left bank of the Mur to Spielfeld bei Austria . In 1920 he became an honorary citizen of Radkersburg, Goritz , Zelting and other southern Styrian communities. In 1921 he became mayor of Radkersburg. From 1923 he was a member of the Styrian Landtag .
