The canton of Choreti is a municipality in the Santa Cruz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The canton ( Bolivian : Cantón) Choreti is one of two cantons of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Camiri in the province of Cordillera . It borders in the north on the municipality Gutiérrez , in the northwest and west on the municipality Lagunillas , in the south on the canton Camiri , and in the southeast and east on the municipality Charagua , all belonging to the province of Cordillera.

The canton is between 19 ° 52 'and 20 ° 08' south latitude and 63 ° 17 'and 63 ° 36' west longitude. Its maximum extent in east-west direction is up to about 30 kilometers, in north-south direction up to about 25 kilometers.

The canton Choreti comprises 15 localities, the central place of the canton is Choreti with 999 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the southwestern part of the district in the immediate vicinity of the city of Camiri . The mean height of the canton is 900  m , in the foothills of the Serranía Choreti and Serranía Borevigua on the western and eastern edge of the canton, heights of over 1,500 m are reached.

The canton Choreti lies in the eastern foothills of Bolivia between the Cordillera Oriental and the Bolivian lowlands. The region's climate is semi-humid and has a clear time-of-day climate in which the mean daily temperature fluctuations are greater than the temperature fluctuations over the course of the year.

Due to the historically grown population distribution, the region has a high proportion of Guaraní population, in the municipality of Camiri 13.0% of the population speak the Guaraní language .
