The canton of Camiri is a district in the Santa Cruz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The canton ( Bolivian : Cantón) Camiri is one of two cantons of the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) Camiri in the province of Cordillera .

The canton of Camiri borders in the north on the canton of Choreti , also located in the municipality of Camiri; in the northwest to the Municipio Lagunillas ; in the southwest to the Chuquisaca department ; in the south to the municipality of Cuevo ; and in the east to the Municipio Charagua .

The canton stretches between about 20 ° 01 'and 20 ° 12' south latitude and 63 ° 25 'and 63 ° 40' west longitude, it measures 25 kilometers from north to south, and also 25 kilometers from west to east. In the north-western part of the canton is the central place of the canton, Camiri , with 28,855 inhabitants ( 2012 census ).

The canton of Camiri lies on the western edge of the Bolivian lowlands between the foothills of the southeastern Cordillera Central . The climate is subtropical and semi-humid , the temperatures fluctuate only to a limited extent during the day and during the year.

The annual average temperature is around 23 ° C, with monthly average temperatures between 17 ° C in June and over 26 ° C in November and December (see Camiri climate diagram). The annual precipitation is almost 900 mm, the dry season from May to October contrasts with a pronounced humidity period from November to April, in which the average maximum values ​​reach 170 to 180 mm per month.
