The municipality Cuevo is a district in the Santa Cruz department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia . Cuevo is known for its milk and cheese industry , every year there is a corresponding festival around the Queso Chaqueño .

Location in the vicinity

The Municipio Cuevo is one of seven Municipios of the Cordillera Province and includes the most south-westerly area. It is bordered by the Chuquisaca department to the west and south, the Boyuibe municipality to the east , and the Camiri municipality to the north .

The municipality extends between about 20 ° 07 'and 20 ° 29' south latitude and 63 ° 20 'and 63 ° 44' west longitude, its extension from west to east and from north to south is up to 40 kilometers each.

The municipality comprises 14 municipalities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the country town Cuevo with 2475 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) on the southern edge of the district.

The municipality Cuevo is located on the western edge of the Bolivian lowlands between the foothills of the south-eastern Cordillera Central and is part of the Gran Chaco region . The climate is subtropical and semi-humid , the temperatures fluctuate only to a limited extent during the day and during the year.

The annual average temperature is 23 ° C, with monthly average temperatures between 17 and 18 ° C from June to July and over 26 ° C from November to December (see Camiri climate diagram).
