The Harzburg canton existed from 1807 to 1813 in the Goslar district in the Oker department in the Kingdom of Westphalia and was formed by the Royal Decree of December 24, 1807. It covers the area of ​​the previous and subsequent Harzburg district .

In the course of the formation of the canton, Oker was added to the existing administrative area in 1807. The new member congregation emerged from the merger of the communal-free areas of the Communion-Oker and the Frau-Marien-Saiger-Hütte .
