Cape Carr is a striking and icy cape on the Clarie coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . It is located 24 km northeast of Cape Morse .
Its geographic location was determined using aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy during Operation Highjump (1946–1947). The US Polarforscher Charles Wilkes notified during his United States Exploring expedition (1838-1842) a at 65 ° 5 ' S , 131 ° 30' O a located Cape to Lt. Overton Carr (1812-1886), a participant in the research travel. The cape was identified by comparing the map created by Wilkes in 1840 with the map material created by the American cartographer Gardner Dean Blodgett (* 1925) in 1955, whereby the position shift of Porpoise Bay contained therein was decisive.
