The Kapaunenberg is 102.1  m above sea level. NHN a striking elevation on the western edge of the Fläming in Saxony-Anhalt .

Location and surroundings

As the smaller twin of the Kapaunberg, it is located in the immediate vicinity, about 400 meters to the west from its highest point at 105.4  m above sea level. NHN removed. District road 1214 runs between the two mountains from Schermen in the northwest to Pietzpuhl in the southeast .

Its flat hilltop is located about two kilometers southeast of the center of the village of Schermen of the unified municipality of Möser and is entirely within the boundaries of the place. Mainly used for agriculture, there are also smaller forest areas at the height.

At the top of the mountain is an information pavilion, which is reminiscent of the telegraph station 12 of the Prussian optical telegraph , which was formerly at the same location .

history

In 1832 the telegraph station 12 of the Prussian optical telegraph was built here on the top of the mountain and was in operation until 1849.
