The Josef Menzl Chapel is a German brass band from the Regensburg area .
The band was founded in Brennberg in July 1995 and was initially inspired by the Regensburg group “d'Saulocker”, who played in this line- up in the 1970s . The band today consists of seven brass , two woodwind and one drummer.
The repertoire mainly includes self- arranged (old) Bavarian brass music , in particular double , Scottish , simple songs and folk dances as well as marches , but also old Bohemian pieces. "[T] he powerful bass, the loud E-flat clarinet and the sharp trumpets" are borrowed from the "Waldler bands". Initially, eight of them were played with a tenor horn or baritone, after a while a second came for the now two-part side solos.
The band has played annually since 1998 at the Straubing Gäubodenvolksfest , since 2010 every year at the “ Oidn Wiesn ” and since 2013 every year at the “ Woodstock der Blasmusik ” festival . They also took part in broadcasts by Bayerischer Rundfunk and Bayerischer Fern.
