Chapel of Our Lady by the Lake
The chapel of Our Lady on the Lake (also: Maria am See ) is located in Obernberg am Brenner in Tyrol . It was built from 1934 to 1935 on a peninsula on Lake Obernberg . This elevation was created by a rock fall from the Tribulaun . You can reach it via a wooden arch bridge.
The central building of the chapel is domed and connects to the square front yoke that serves as the entrance. In the central dome there is a fresco depicting the coronation of Mary . Mary is surrounded by a circle of angels. The planning of the lake chapel was carried out by Hans Menardi and the frescoes were painted by Carl Rieder in 1938. The building has been a listed building since 1973 .
