The Capuchin Church of the Most Holy Trinity is a religious church in the South Tyrolean city of Bruneck , which belongs to the Bruneck deanery of the diocese of Bozen-Brixen . It is a listed building .

history

After the approval of the Bruneck City Council in 1625, the Capuchin Order settled in the city. The area of the former smelter of the Ahrner copper mine on Spitalsanger (today Kapuzinerplatz ) was assigned to him for the construction of a monastery church . The construction of the church took place under the supervision of Father Michael ( Fieger von Friedberg ) and was consecrated in 1628, but the monastery could not be completed until 1630. In 1723, both the church and the monastery fell victim to a major city fire , but were immediately rebuilt.

Building description

The church has the simple appearance typical of the Capuchin order. The detached choir is just closing , a side chapel is built on the left side of the nave . There is a wooden roof turret on the roof . A mosaic image of St. Francis of Assisi can be seen above the portal at the front , which was created in 2006 by the Verona-based company Arte Poli .

Inside, the nave and choir are covered by barrel vaults. On the left side a round arch opens to the Lady Chapel. Josef Bachlechner the Elder created the church's altars around 1900. The high altar picture shows Saints Francis and Anthony , above it the Trinity over Bruneck. It comes from an unknown artist from the construction period, around 1628. The altar side paintings show John the Baptist and John the Evangelist . The altar and picture in the Marienkapelle were created by Georg Freiberger around 1905. On the swinging gallery there is an organ made by Reinisch-Pirchner in 1994.
