Karel Neffe (rower, 1948)

Karel Neffe (born July 6, 1948 in Prague ; † February 13, 2020 there ) was a Czechoslovak rower .

Neffe took sixth place in the four with helmsman at the European Championships in 1971 . At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, the Czechoslovak four-man rowed with a helmsman in the line-up of Otakar Mareček , Karel Neffe, Vladimír Jánoš , František Provazník and helmsman Vladimír Petříček to the bronze medal behind the two German boats. The following year, the Czechoslovak four-man competed at the 1973 European Championships in the same line-up as in Munich and won bronze behind the boats from the Soviet Union and the GDR. After a fifth place at the World Championships in 1975 , Neffe finished fourth with the four at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

At the 1977 World Championships , Neffe competed with Karel Mejta and helmsman Jiří Pták in two with helmsman and won bronze behind the boats from Bulgaria and the GDR. The following year the boat from the GDR won, Neffe, Mejta and Pták received the silver medal behind them. At the 1979 World Championships , Neffe finished seventh with eighth , and at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, Neffe took fourth with the Czechoslovak eighth.

In 1981 nephew returned to the four with helmsman. After a fourth place at the World Championships in 1981 , the four-man in the line-up Vojtěch Caska , Josef Neštický , Jan Kabrhel , Karel Neffe and Jiří Pták took the silver medal behind the GDR four-man in 1982 . This was followed by a fifth place with the four at the 1983 World Championships . Because of the Olympic boycott in 1984, Nephew could not end his career with a fourth Olympic participation.

Karel's nephew's son Karel Jr. was also an Olympian in rowing.
