Karen Senior married Walker (born August 10, 1956 in Bangor (Northern Ireland) ) was an Irish table tennis player in the 1970s .

Career

Karen Senior has made around 60 international appearances for Ireland. She took part in three world championships , namely 1973 , 1977 and 1979 , but never came close to medal ranks. She was also nominated for three European championships (1972,1976,1978). At the European Championship in 1978 she played doubles with the German Monika Sedlmair . This double surprised the experts with victories over Monika Kneip-Stumpe / Agnes Simon (Germany) and Bettine Vriesekoop / Éva Ferenczi (Netherlands / Romania) before it was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Judit Magos / Gabriella Szabó (Hungary).

In the mid-1970s she studied in Gießen and joined the Gießener SV club , whose women's team played in the women's Bundesliga at the time. In 1977 she moved to TSV Kronshagen , with whom she won the German championship in 1979. In 1981 she became Irish champion in singles, doubles and mixed.

In 1979 she married the English table tennis player Jimmy Walker , who was then playing for the TTC Cologne club. Since then she has performed under the name Karen Walker .
