Monika Sedlmair

Monika Sedlmair - married Monika Dietrich - (born August 25, 1960 in Günding ) is a German table tennis player . She took part in the 1978 European Championship .

Monika Sedlmair won the Bavarian Championships four times , namely 1979, 1980, 1982 and 1984. In addition, there are 1977 and 1979 doubles titles with Jana Eberle and five mixed titles (1977, 1978 with Peter Betsch, 1981, 1982 with Wilfried Kinner, 1984 with Preuss). In 1983 she finished second in the national German championship behind Susanne Wenzel , and in 1979 she won bronze in doubles with Jana Eberle and in mixed with Klaus Schmittinger .

In 1978 Monika Sedlmair was nominated for the individual competitions of the European Championship . Here she survived the qualifying round in the individual, but then lost to the French Nadine Daviaud . She played doubles with Karen Senior from Ireland. This double surprised the experts with victories over Monika Kneip-Stumpe / Agnes Simon (Germany) and Bettine Vriesekoop / Éva Ferenczi (Netherlands / Romania) before it was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Judit Magos / Gabriella Szabó (Hungary). It was the most successful women's doubles with German participation at this EM. In the mixed with Hans-Joachim Nolten she prevailed against Camille Pütz / Carine Risch (Luxembourg) in the qualification and then lost in the main round against Stellan Bengtsson / Ann-Christin Hellman from Sweden.

In 1983 Monika married Sedlmair and has since performed under the name Monika Dietrich . After the end of her career as a competitive athlete, she still takes part in senior tournaments, where she achieved several successes at German championships and became German champion in 2011:

  • 2003: Over 40: third place in singles, third place in mixed with Johann Wiesböck
  • 2005: Over 40: Third place in doubles with Gaby Kotter, third place in mixed with Hans Lechner
  • 2010: Over 50: Third place in the individual, victory in the mixed with Rolf Eberhardt
  • 2011: Over 50: Victory in singles, second in doubles with Beate Greib-Trapp, second in mixed with Rolf Eberhardt
  • 2012: Over 50: second place in singles, victory in doubles with Beate Greib-Trapp, victory in mixed with Rolf Eberhardt

Monika Sedlmair began her career at TSV 1865 Dachau, later played for VSC 1862 Donauwörth , returned to Dachau and moved to Bayern Munich in 1990 in the Bayern League. At the end of the 1990s she played with the TSV Schwabhausen women's team in the second Bundesliga south . It is still active in Schwabhausen today (2012).
