Susanne Wenzel
Susanne Wenzel (born August 12, 1963 in Kronshagen ) was one of the strongest German table tennis players in the 1980s .
Career
Susanne Wenzel initially stood in the shadow of her older sister Sabine. In 1976 she lost her in the final of the German Schoolchildren Championship. A year later, she won the title and was the youngest ever winner in this discipline. In the following years she became even stronger and was one of the best German table tennis players. In 1979 and 1981 she won the European Youth Championships in mixed with Jürgen Rebel .
She was three times German champion in singles, five times in doubles and twice in mixed. Three German team championships and four victories in national ranking tournaments are further successes; In 1984 she did not give a single set in the national ranking tournament. In 1986 she won bronze with the German team at the European Championship.
Between 1982 and 1986 she was invited to international matches 40 times. It was first used in September 1982 in the Europa League game against the CSSR, where it was defeated in mixed. After the European Championship in 1986, she announced her resignation from the national team. In 1983 and 1984 she was named Player of the Year by the DTTB.
In between she played for Luxembourg from 1987 to 1991 .

Private
Susanne Wenzel's parents were active for the TSV Kronshagen club . Her father, the building contractor Horst Wenzel, used to be the association's department head. She also has an older brother and older sister Sabine.
