Karim-Mohamed Maamoun (born April 9, 1991 in Giza ) is an Egyptian tennis player .

Career

Karim-Mohamed Maamoun was a promising youth player. From 2008 to 2009 he played all four Grand Slam tournaments for the juniors in a row and in 2009 he reached the 26th place in the junior ranking list.

In 2010 he played his first professional tournament and entered the top 1000 singles in the world tennis rankings . In the years up to 2015 he was able to make progressive progress in the ranking, so that at the end of this year he was in the top 500 in singles, in doubles, where he had already won 10 futures , he even moved into the top 300. In 2016 Maamoun finally achieved his first success in singles, which he followed by two more, so that he improved another 150 places.

The most successful year so far for the Egyptian followed in 2017, when he won five futures right at the beginning of the year and thus had enough points to play in the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour tournaments. He did this mainly until the end of the year, first in April in Qingdao, China . In Meerbusch and Istanbul he made it to the semi-finals, which he lost to Andreas Haider-Maurer and Malek Jaziri respectively . In October he reached his previous career high with 225th place. In doubles he had already reached this with 224th place in June 2016. 2018 got off to a less successful start, with only two futures titles in the entire year, which meant that he fell back in the rankings. In qualifying for the Australian Open , he won against Marcelo Arévalo in the first round , but lost to French Stéphane Robert in round 2 .

Karim-Mohamed Maamoun is a regular representative for the Egyptian Davis Cup team , where he plays every year from 2011 onwards and has a record of 17: 6.
