distribution

The name Karin is (after Ursula ) the second most common first name for girls in Germany since 1890. Before 1915, however, it was hardly in use. From the mid-twenties it became more and more popular. From the mid-thirties to the end of the fifties it was one of the ten most frequently given first names, and after 1940 it was even the most common one a few times. From the end of the sixties, its distribution sank sharply, since the beginning of the nineties hardly any girls have been called Karin.
