Karin Berghammer

Karin Berghammer (born March 18, 1961 in Upper Austria ) is an Austrian director and producer .

Life

The midwife training is followed by seven years of professional practice. Together with Iris Podgorschek, she developed a new type of “birthing bed” and received an international patent for it . The patent exploitation took place together with Schmitz & Söhne GmbH & Co. KG, Wickede.

Berghammer then went on a 14-month trip around the world, including a study visit to the University of California LA , UCLA, Department of Film and Video. She then graduated from the Kaskeline Film Academy in Berlin . In 2005 Berghammer completed the postgraduate course in TV & Film Production at Danube University Krems and graduated with a Master of Arts . In 2009 Berghammer took part in the Eurodoc Training Sessions in Nuan le Fuzzier, Rotterdam and Gorizia . A year later she completed SOURCES 2 workshops in Vienna and Graz . In 2011 she took part in the Eave Film Financing Forum in Luxembourg .

In 2001 she founded karin berghammer film production in Vienna and produces short fiction films and documentaries at the interface between science and art.

From 2005 to 2013 she was Head of Development for Amour Fou Filmproduktion as Head of Development and as a production manager on films such as Shortly before it happened by Anja Salomonowitz (2006), Arik Brauer , a youth in Vienna by Helene Maimann (2012), Die 727 days without Karamo by Anja Salomonowitz (2013) and Le grand Cahier / Das große Heft by János Szász (2013), as production manager for coop99 for Toast by Jessica Hausner (2006), for Navigartorfilm In die Welt by Constantin Wulff (2009) and responsible for KGP Home Is Here by Tereza Kotyk (2016).

Since 2013 she has been involved in the board of directors of FC Gloria, Frauen Vernetzung Film, for equality for women in the film industry.

In October 2018 Berghammer founded the production company berg hammer film .

She has three children with Andreas Patton and lives with her family in Vienna and Lower Austria.
