Karin Kraus (* 1956 in Bad Nauheim ) is a German social scientist, organizational developer and author.

education

Karin Kraus studied German and sociology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . Kraus received her doctorate in 1990 together with her sister, the psychoanalyst Helga Kraus, with an interdisciplinary work on the subject of sister relationships.

Professional background

Between 1979 and 1985 Kraus gained experience in the agricultural machinery and motorcycle industries. Afterwards she also worked as a documentary filmmaker and filmmaker . a. for the Hessischer Rundfunk . She became known with her documentary Das Weibernest - a village, women and the lust for the country about the women of a village in the Wetterau . She has been working as an organizational developer and consultant since the late 1980s .

Women's work and politics

Karin Kraus was on the board of the Feminist Women's Health Center FFGZ in Frankfurt am Main, which was founded in 1978. There, Kraus set up a consulting area for women in professional conflict situations. During this time she also advised women and women's representatives on sexual harassment in the workplace. Since 1990 Kraus has been working closely with the district women's secretariat of the ÖTV Hessen and the ÖTV district women's secretary Barbara Dürk . Kraus and Dürk concentrate on the issues of upgrading women's professions and making working hours more flexible . During this time, Kraus and Dürk developed and documented a series of seminars on upgrading women's professions, under the direction of the then ÖTV chairman Herbert Mai . In her work, Karin Kraus also dealt intensively with the question of women and power in a professional context.

In 2018 Karin Kraus launched the Women-Writing-Wiki (WWW) project together with Sonja Hintermeier . WWW says it has set itself the goal of increasing the presence of women and that of their achievements in Wikipedia.

Private life

Karin Kraus is married to the publisher Vittorio Klostermann . You have a daughter.
