Karin Wittneben

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karin Wittneben (born August 18, 1935 in Kiel ; † November 23, 2016 in Laatzen ) was a German nurse, teacher for nursing professions and professor of didactics in the professional field of health at the University of Hamburg .

Life

Karin Wittneben born Claussen completed training as a nurse at the Hamburg-Rissen hospital . She then completed further training as a teacher for nursing professions at the renowned nursing school at Heidelberg University , which she completed with a thesis on the collaboration between doctors and nursing staff. Wittneben then worked for several years in the field of nursing education and training and developed her didactic approach of "multidimensional patient orientation", which was a further development of the patient-oriented approach of the Heidelberg nursing school by Antje Grauhan . This was followed by studies in educational science , sociology and psychology at the University of Hanover , as well as education and nursing science at the University of Wisconsin – Madison . The master’s degree also took place here. In 1991 Karin Wittneben received her doctorate from the Faculty of Education at the University of Hanover. The work was entitled Nursing Concepts in Further Education to Nursing Teachers. About the requirements and perspectives of a critical-constructive didactics of nursing . Karin Wittneben's understanding of pedagogy and didactics was shaped by ideas of critical-constructive didactics by Wolfgang Klafki and the “theory of communicative action” by Jürgen Habermas . In 1993, she was appointed professor for educational science at the University of Hamburg with a focus on "Didactics in the professional field of health / nursing" at the Institute for Professional and Business Education. At the same time she was commissioned by the Senator for Science of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg to plan a course in nursing teachers at the University of Hamburg.

Karin Wittneben was one of the protagonists of the professionalization of nursing in Germany and an active member of the German Society for Nursing Science (previously: German Association). She played an important role, together with Johanna Taubert , Marianne Arndt and Sabine Bartholomeyczik , in founding the section of this society's higher education teaching. She became a founding member of this section.

Activity as a nursing historian

Karin Wittneben earned further services as a nursing historian. She created numerous historically relevant biographies in the “ Biographical Lexicon for Nursing History: Who Was Who in Nursing History ”, which was or is initially published by Horst-Peter Wolff and later by Hubert Kolling. Volume eight of this lexicon (2018) therefore shows Karin Wittneben on the title page in honor of her services.
