Sabine Bartholomeyczik (born April 13, 1944 in Heidelberg ) is a German nursing scientist .

At the beginning of her professional career, Sabine Bartholomeyczik did a nursing internship in a state psychiatric hospital and followed this internship with training as a nurse at the nursing school at Heidelberg University . She followed a recommendation from the Heidelberg surgeon and first post-war rector of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , Karl-Heinrich Bauer (1890–1978), to whom the university's nursing school was a particular concern. Sabine Bartholomeyczik practiced the profession of nurse until the beginning of the seventies in Berlin and Mannheim . Bartholomeyczik studied social science in Mannheim and graduated with a diploma.

From 1974 to 1990 she worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Social Medicine and Epidemiology of the Federal Health Office in Berlin. During this time she did her doctorate in social sciences ( Dr. rer. Pol. ). From 1990 Bartholomeyczik worked on the one hand as a freelance lecturer for nursing research and on the other hand as an employee of the Agnes Karll Institute for nursing research in Eschborn, which was set up by Monika Krohwinkel .

In 1993 she was appointed professor for nursing science at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences . Since 2001 she has been professor and holder of the chair “Epidemiology-Nursing Science” at the Institute for Nursing Science at the Medical Faculty of the private University of Witten / Herdecke . From 2009 to 2013 she was the site spokesperson at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Witten.

Sabine Bartholomeyczik was the first chairwoman of the German Society for Nursing Science from 1999 to 2009 . In 2009 she handed this office over to Renate Stemmer (* 1959).

Main focus of work and research

While in the beginning classic questions of nursing were in the foreground of her research, she later devoted herself in particular to the special problems in the care of demented patients.

  • Member of the scientific advisory board of the German Professional Association for Nursing Professions (DBfK) (since 2001)
  • In the International Scientific Advisory Panel of the Annual International Nursing Research Conference of the Royal College of Nursing (since 2001)
  • In the Scientific Committee of the Fourth European Conference of ACENDIO (since 2002)
  • In the Alumni Nursing Science department of the Heidelberg Alumni International network of the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg (since the beginning of 2014)

Honors

Federal President Joachim Gauck awarded Bartholomeyczik the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany . The Lord Mayor of Heidelberg, Eckart Würzner, presented the certificate and the medal on May 11, 2015.
