NGC 4030 is a spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Virgo, about 1 ° south of the autumn point . It is estimated to be 60 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 80,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 753 and IC 754 .
On February 19, 2007, SN 2007aa , a type IIP supernova , was observed here.
The object was discovered by William Herschel on January 1, 1786 .
