NGC 4044 is an elliptical radio galaxy from the Hubble type E1 in the constellation Virgin on northern sky . It is estimated to be 269 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxy IC 753 is located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on January 1, 1786 .
