NGC 4033 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E6 in the constellation Raven south of the celestial equator . It is around 67 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 50,000 light years. Together with PGC 37841 , it forms an optical pair of galaxies and is a member of the NGC 4038 group of 27 galaxies ( LGG 263 ).
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on December 31, 1785 .
