NGC 4023 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Coma Berenices the northern sky . It is estimated to be 196 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3999 , NGC 4005 , NGC 4011 , NGC 4022 .
The object was discovered by Johan Dreyer on April 26, 1878 .
