NGC 3999 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 185 million light years from the Milky Way . In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 3987 , NGC 4000 , NGC 4005 , NGC 4011 , among others .
The object was discovered by Lawrence Parsons on April 25, 1878 .
