NGC 3993 is a spiral galaxy from the Hubble type SBb / P in Leo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 215 million light years from the Milky Way . Together with five other galaxies, it forms the NGC 3997 group ( LGG 260 ).
The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 6, 1785 .
