NGC 3989 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 209 million light years from the Milky Way and about 40,000 light years in diameter. Together with five other galaxies, it forms the NGC 3997 group ( LGG 260 ).
In the same area of ​​the sky are the galaxies NGC 3987 , NGC 3993 , NGC 3997 , NGC 4000 .

The object was discovered by RJ Mitchell on April 27, 1854 .
