NGC 4002 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sab in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 293 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a disk diameter of around 95,000 light years. Together with NGC 4003 , it forms the gravitationally bound galaxy pair KPG 312 .
In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3983 and IC 744 .

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on April 10, 1785 .
