NGC 4012 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is an estimated 183 million light years from the Milky Way and about 105,000 light years in diameter.
The type II supernovae SN 2004aq and SN 2005J were observed here.
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on March 25, 1865 .
