NGC 4047 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sb in the constellation Ursa Major at the northern sky . It is an estimated 155 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter. Together with PGC 2322652 , it forms an optical pair of galaxies.
The object was discovered on February 9, 1788 by the astronomer Wilhelm Herschel .
