Karina Sævik (born March 24, 1996 in Norway ) is a Norwegian soccer player who has been playing for Kolbotn IL in the top series since 2015 and for the Norwegian women's national soccer team since 2019 .

Career

Sævik played in September 2011 as a 15-year-old for the Norwegian second division club SK Haugar and scored the goal for her team in the 1: 4 loss to FL Fart. The club rose at the end of the season in the 2nd division (3rd division). She continued to play in the 1st team, but at times also for the U-16s and the 2nd team in the 3rd division. In 2013 she moved to the first division club Avaldsnes IL , for whom she played both in the first team and in the U-19 team and the second team in the 3rd division, where she scored the most goals. The 2013 season ended the team in fourth place and reached the cup final, which was lost to Stabæk 0-1 and in which it was not used. In 2014, at the age of 18, she played in 20 of 22 league games and scored her first two first division goals. The club finished the season in 5th place. In the current 2015 season she moved to league competitor Kolbotn IL , who was placed one place better in the previous season. While her previous club was runner-up, it was only 5th for her new club. This did not change in the next three seasons, in 2017 Kolbotn even fell to 10th place and barely avoided relegation. In 2018 it was reversed and Kolbotn climbed to 5th place while Avaldsnes fell to ninth place. She was used in all of her team's league games in 2016 and 2017. However, she scored the most goals (9) in 2018, although she only played 16 games during the season. In August 2019, she moved to Paris Saint-Germain with seven goals after ten games this season .

National team

Sævik went through the Norwegian junior teams and was used in the qualifiers for the U-17 European Women's Football Championship in 2012 and 2013 , but could not reach the finals of the top four teams. In 2014 the U-19 European Championship took place in their home country, so they didn't have to qualify. The Norwegians then survived the group stage, but lost the semi-finals against Spain 2-0. Sævik only had two short appearances totaling 31 minutes. She had more appearances in the subsequent qualification for the U-19 European Women's Football Championship in 2015 , which was then achieved, but where it ended after the group stage. Then she played for the first time for the U-23 team. Between 2015 and 2019, she played a total of 14 games with the U-23 team.

She made her first appearance in the senior national team when she won the Algarve Cup in 2019 , where she was in the starting line-up in the 2-1 group game against Denmark and played 90 minutes. In the 3-1 win against China she was only on the bench, in the final against Poland she was substituted on in the 62nd minute and scored the 3-0 final score twelve minutes later with her first international goal. After the friendly against New Zealand on April 9 , where she played for the first 83 minutes, she was nominated for the 2019 World Cup on May 2 as one of two outfield players with only three international matches . At the World Cup, she was used in four Norwegian games, where she was in the starting line-up three times, but was replaced each time. In the round of 16 against Australia she prepared Isabell Herlovsen's 1-0 win . Ultimately, however, the penalty shoot-out had to decide on her progress, in which she was not involved, as she was substituted after 72 minutes. Your teammates were then able to prevail with 4: 1. With a 3-0 defeat against England in the quarter-finals, she and her team were eliminated and thus also missed the 2020 Olympic Games .
