Karl-Erich Alexander von Vegesack (born February 4, 1896 in Kuchendorf , Neumarkt district , Silesia, † December 20, 1992 in Eglharting ) was an agricultural goods director and painter from Silesia .

Life

Karl-Erich von Vegesack was the youngest son of Karl Alexander and Wilhelmine Christiane Margarethe von Vegesack (* 1907, née Weinschenk).

He grew up in Obsendorf in Silesia. First he went to the elementary school in Mettkau , then he attended the boarding high school in Breslau . From the age of twelve to high school , he had painting lessons in Breslau with Eduard Kämpfer.

Military time

After graduating from high school, he volunteered for the military . He was quickly promoted to officer and used in France and the Balkans during the First World War . He was seriously wounded in the Balkans and was taken to the hospital in Wroclaw as a result. After that he was no longer used in military service, but worked in agriculture as a goods director. In France he had already sketched various battles and now painted according to these templates.

Estate management

His activity as goods director in Silesia lasted forty years until he came to Bavaria in July 1945 . There were also some agricultural goods under his control. After his retirement , his wife gave him a paint box, a palette and an easel for his 67th birthday. This brought his passion for painting back to life. He immediately registered with König in Munich for a course at the “Munich School”. After the presentation of his pictures in the Munich artists' cooperative , he was accepted into the same. For thirteen years he exhibited in the spring exhibition at the Haus der Kunst in Munich. His pictures were also presented at smaller exhibitions in the district of Ebersberg , where he was living at the time. His favorite subjects were landscapes, portraits, animals and still lifes.

He was married to Edith Charlotte Margarethe von Vegesack (1907–1969, née von Ploetz ) and the father of Monika von Holly (née von Vegesack) and Karl-Albrecht von Vegesack (* 1928), cousin of the poet Siegfried von Vegesack .
