Karl-Ernst Schmidt (2010)

Karl-Ernst Schmidt (* 28. December 1949 in Dens ) is a German local politician ( CDU ) and was from 1 September 2003 to 2015 District Administrator of the district Rotenburg . He is married and has two grown children.

Life

In 1966 he passed his secondary school leaving certificate. Following this, he completed vocational training as a farmer . In 1973 he was able to follow up with the agricultural master. 1974 to 1975 he completed the basic course in agriculture at the University of Kassel in Witzenhausen . At the JLU Gießen he studied agricultural sciences , which he finished in 1979 with the diploma and the first state examination.

Schmidt worked from 1979 to 1983 as a research assistant at the agricultural faculty at JLU Giessen. He completed this activity at the beginning of 1983 with a PhD. rer. nat. from. He then worked for a short time at the German Agricultural Society in Frankfurt . Then he was employed in the higher service of the Hessian agricultural administration in the Werra-Meißner district . There he was also head of the agricultural administration from 1990 to 2003.

In his capacity as district administrator, Schmidt was a member of the administrative board of Sparkasse Bad Hersfeld-Rotenburg .

Karl-Ernst Schmidt is a member of the CDU. He has been active in local politics since 1972 and chairman of the CDU community association in Nentershausen.

On February 2, 2003, he was elected for the first time to the district administrator of the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district. He was able to prevail with 50.3% of the votes against his predecessor Roland Hühn .

In the district election on April 26, 2009 Schmidt was confirmed in office with 59.8% of the votes.

Schmidt was chairman of the North District Assembly of the Hessian District Assembly until 2013 . Since November 2013 he has been its first vice-president.
