Life

Lütcke studied Classical Philology and Protestant Theology in Berlin, Munich and Zurich . After the state examination in Latin and Greek in 1964, he received his doctorate in 1966 with a thesis on the auctoritas concept under Augustine and completed his theological studies in Tübingen in 1968. After a short time as a vicar in Stuttgart-Fasanenhof and as a pastor in Sindelfingen-Eichholz, he was director of studies in the vicar training of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg from 1970 to 1977 . In 1977 he became the head of department for the training of theologians, senior consistorial councilor in the Berlin consistory of the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg (Berlin-West area). In 1990, when reunification became apparent, but the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg was still divided into the West and East regions, he was elected as vacancy administrator for the provost's office. After the unification of the two regions, he held this office until 1996 together with Hans-Otto Furian , who came from the eastern region, and from 1996 to 2005 he was provost of the regional church and at the same time deputy bishop. In the years after reunification, he was strongly committed to the process of growing together East and West in the church and was also involved in the development of a common basic order for the Evangelical Church in Berlin-Brandenburg.

From 1992 to 2009 Lütcke was chairman of the Institute for Church and Judaism , from 1999 to 2005 chairman of the Evangelical Diakoniewerk Queen Elisabeth in Berlin-Lichtenberg, from 1992 to 2004 chairman of the Burckhardthaus e.
