Karl-Heinz Florence
Karl-Heinz Florenz (born October 22, 1947 in Neukirchen-Vluyn ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was a member of the European Parliament for North Rhine-Westphalia from 1989 to 2019 . In the European Parliament he was a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and the Delegation for relations with the United States . Florence was also Vice-Chair of the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee and the Delegation to the EU-Mexico Joint Parliamentary Committee. He did not run again for the 2019 European elections .
Life
After completing an apprenticeship in a bank and training to become a master agriculturalist, as well as a stay abroad in the USA, he took over the farm and married his wife Gisela, with whom he has three children. In addition to being a member of parliament, he has been running his farm for more than 30 years; he grows sugar beets, rape, grain and corn. One of his hobbies is equestrian sport, especially eventing . Karl-Heinz Florenz also collects and restores old Lanz Bulldog tractors .

During the 2009 period, Florence is a member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and the Delegation for Relations with the United States . Florence is deputy in the Committee on Transport and Tourism and the delegation in the EU-Mexico Joint Parliamentary Committee .
In addition to the area of “climate protection and sustainable development”, his main activities also included topics such as non-smoker protection or environmental and chemical policy. Florence was rapporteur in the European Parliament's Temporary Committee on Climate Change. During his time as committee chairman of the environmental committee, u. a. the REACh regulation on chemicals legislation in Europe passed.
