Karl-Heinz Kazmierzak (born October 31, 1940 in Ramsin ) is a former German racing cyclist who was active in the GDR in the 1960s .

Athletic career

Kazmierzak began his cycling career in 1955 with the company sports association (BSG) Chemie Wolfen . In September 1958 he was delegated to ASK Vorwärts Frankfurt an der Oder , the main focus of the Army Sports Association Vorwärts . This made him a " state amateur ". At the GDR championships, the 1.82 m tall Kazmierzak took two podium places for the ASK Vorwärts: in 1963 he was third in individual road driving and in 1966 with the ASK four-man second place in the team time trial . As early as 1962 he had appeared in the results lists of major races, for example in the GDR tour in 1962, in which he took sixth place. In 1962, he was nominated for the GDR team for the UCI World Championship, but the team was not allowed to enter Italy for political reasons. After the 1969 season Kazmierzak left the GDR national team and ended his career in competitive sports in 1970.

Professional

Karl-Heinz Kazmierzak completed an apprenticeship as a tiler. He later worked as a major police in the GDR until 1990 and as police chief inspector in Torgau from 1990.
