Karl-Heinz Munk (born December 11, 1939 in Herges-Hallenberg ) is a former German ski jumper .
Career
Munk, who started for the SC Motor Zella-Mehlis , won the silver medal in the individual competition at the GDR championships in 1964 on February 21, 1964 behind Veit Keuert . With jumps of 107 and 106.5 m, he achieved the grade 228.5. He then received a starting place in the all-German team for the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck in 1964 . There he reached ninth place on the normal hill and 21st place on the large hill.
Since Munk was considered politically inappropriate, private trips abroad were forbidden. He succeeded in the long-prepared escape in December 1965 when he left the training camp in Seefeld in Tyrol two days after his 26th birthday and was driven to the West by his brother, who lived in the Federal Republic of Germany .
Between 1965 and 1968 Munk started as part of the Four Hills Tournament for the Federal Republic. However, he did not achieve a breakthrough. The best result was a 28th place on December 30, 1966 in Oberstdorf .
