Karl-Ludwig Kelber

Karl-Ludwig Kelber (born December 27, 1932 in Sugenheim ; † September 23, 2018 in Bonn ) was a German journalist and long-time federal chairman of the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) . In 2013 the association made Kelber its first honorary member.

Life

Kelber was born in Sugenheim in Central Franconia as the child of the pastor couple Albrecht and Maria Kelber. The family also lived in Lauf an der Pegnitz and Bamberg . After the re-founding of the Windsbach Boys Choir in 1947, he was a boarding school student there.

Kelber studied German , history and philosophy in Erlangen and Bonn . He began his journalistic career at the Bamberg newspaper Fränkischer Tag , later he moved to Bonn as a press officer for the Association of German Student Associations . He then worked as a commentator and reporter at the Deutscher Presseplan agency until 2002, most recently in Berlin .

Karl-Ludwig Kelber last lived in Bonn and had a daughter and a son, the Federal Data Protection Officer Ulrich Kelber .

ADFC

Kelber has been active with the ADFC since 1979, when it was founded. He headed the Bonn District Association as founding chairman from 1979 to 1994. At the federal level, he was chairman of the administrative board from 1980 to 1986 and from 1986 to 1998 national chairman. Under Kelber, the ADFC was able to increase its membership to over 100,000.

In 2013 Kelber became the first honorary member of the ADFC.
