Karl Adolf Brodtbeck

Karl Adolf Brodtbeck (born October 10, 1866 in Liestal , † June 11, 1932 in Lausanne ) was a Swiss lawyer and politician of the Social Democratic Party .

Life

Brodtbeck was born in 1866 as the son of the innkeeper of the “Zum Schlüssel” inn in Liestal. He attended grammar school in Basel and then studied law at the Universities of Basel , Lausanne and Berlin and received his doctorate .

From 1899 to 1902 Brodtbeck worked as an adjunct for legislation and administration of justice at the Federal Department of Justice and Police . He then practiced as a lawyer in Basel, Liestal and Pratteln until 1924 . During this time he also took a seat on the Board of Directors of the Swiss Federal Railways from 1903 to 1922 . In 1919 Brodtbeck was elected to the National Council, to which he was a member until mid-1924. He was also a member of the District Administrator of the Canton of Basel-Landschaft from 1920 to 1924 . During the same period he was also a member of the bank council of the Basellandschaftliche Kantonalbank . From 1924 to 1932 Brodtbeck was a federal judge at the 2nd civil division of the federal court .
