Karl Albrecht Kubinzky

Karl Albrecht Kubinzky (born July 28, 1940 in Wiener Neustadt , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian geographer and historian. As a city historian, author and journalist from Graz , he is the author of publications on Graz and Styria .

Life

Kubinzky studied geography and history at the University of Graz and passed the teaching examination. After the teaching examination and graduation as a Magister (Mag. Rer. Nat.) And the doctorate to Dr. phil. he worked as a university assistant at the Institute for Sociology at the Faculty of Law and Political Science and then at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences at the University of Graz .

From 1978 to 2000 Kubinzky worked as a federal teacher in the university service with the title of professor at the University of the Institute for Sociology of the University of Graz. He also taught at the Technical University of Graz and the University of Salzburg . He also taught economic geography at the interpreting institute and media sociology at the media studies course at the University of Graz for many years.

From 1967 to 2012 Kubinzky was a specialist examiner for the tourist guide trade, worked on exhibitions and was the editor of the district magazine Graz-eins and is a member of the scientific advisory board of the magazine politicum . Karl Albrecht Kubinzky is the correspondent of the Historical Commission for Styria and its "Graz Commissioner". 2015 member of the board of trustees of the Universalmuseum Joanneum.

Kubinzky is a co-founder of the Graz Freemason Lodge Symbolon. Kubinzky was also a co-founder of the Judo Union Graz (1961) and the Graz tourist guide club (1967).

In 2018, Karl Albrecht Kubnizky transferred his extensive private collection, which reflects the last 100 years of Graz city history and by far the most important private documentation on the development of the state capital, to the Universal Museum Joanneum . It is recorded as the "Kubinzky Collection" and comprises over 100,000 objects - most of them photographs and postcards.

Kubinzky is considered to be one of the most profound Graz connoisseurs and, as a city historian from Graz, is known to a wider audience through his columns "Historisches aus Graz". These appear in the "BIG - Citizens Information" of the official newspaper of the city of Graz with a circulation of 140,000.
