Karl Anton Gutknecht (born February 21, 1859 in Mühlheim an der Donau , † April 23, 1928 in Hamburg ) was a German politician (DNVP).

Live and act

After attending the civil and Latin School in Scheer completed Gutknecht first a plumber teaching. Later he trained to become an engineer. In this context he attended a drawing and electrical engineering course at the technical center in Scheer. In 1878 he settled in Hamburg . From 1879 to 1881 he belonged to the infantry regiment "Kaiser Wilhelm, King of Prussia" (2nd Württembergisches) No. 120 in Weingarten . In 1884 Gutknecht founded his own business, a factory for electrical systems, which specialized in particular in the manufacture of pneumatic tube systems. From 1898 to 1918 Gutknecht belonged to the Hamburg citizenship , where he was part of the Left Party . In addition, he was head master of the plumbers' guild in Hamburg, chairman of the association of independent plumbers and various trades in Hamburg, Altona and Wandsbek, chairman of the auxiliary fund for traders and the loan fund of the trade chamber and the building maintenance commission of the trade chamber.

After the First World War , Gutknecht joined the German National People's Party (DNVP). For this he was again a member of the Hamburg parliament from 1919 to 1921 . In the Reichstag election of June 1920 Gutknecht was elected as a DNVP candidate for constituency 15 (Hamburg) in the first Reichstag of the Weimar Republic , of which he was a member until the May 1924 elections.
