Karl Christian Canzler

Karl Christian Canzler (born September 30, 1733 in Burkhardtsdorf , † October 16, 1786 in Dresden ) was a German librarian and historian.

Life

From 1768 Canzler worked in the Electoral Library in Dresden. Together with his friend August Gottlieb Meißner , he published the quarterly publication For Aeltere Litteratur und Neuere Lectüre from 1783 to 1785 . His special love was medieval themes. As an active Freemason, he also published articles on this topic.

Individual evidence

  1. In the birth certificate, which is in the church archive of Burkhardtsdorf, it says 1733. The ADB therefore erroneously states that the entry in Meusel's lexicon is incorrect.
