Karl Eduard Aeschlimann

Karl Eduard Aeschlimann (* possibly February 17, 1808 , baptized August 7, 1808 in Burgdorf , † April 4, 1893 in Yalta ) was a court architect of the Russian tsarist family.

Life

Karl Eduard Aeschlimann was a son of the potter Johann Heinrich Aeschlimann and his wife Marie. He attended the burger schools in Burgdorf and was then trained at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Paris and worked as an assistant to the city architect of Bern . In 1828 he traveled to the Black Sea . He was the travel companion of the Spanish Count Orlando de la Blanca. From around 1830 to 1860 he worked as court architect for the Russian tsarist family on the south coast of Crimea , particularly in the Greater Yalta district. For this area he created a general construction plan and designed numerous private and public buildings, including the first hotel in Yalta . He was also involved in building the castle in Alupka for the Vorontsov family .

Aeschlimann, who married Elisa Maurer in Simferopol in 1836 , a daughter of Johann Jakob Maurer-Fischer from Schaffhausen, was ennobled around 1850.
