Karl Göbel (politician)

Karl Göbel (born October 5, 1936 in Hütting (today Rennertshofen ), † February 24, 2017 ) was a German politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from primary school in Hütting in 1950, Karl Göbel completed an apprenticeship as a farmer and attended a technical college for agriculture. In 1959 he became a Dipl.-Ing. (FH) specializing in agriculture. He then worked at the Bavarian State Plant Breeding Institute in Weihenstephan and from 1962 to 1968 was an education officer at the Württemberg-Baden farmers' association. From 1968 to 1994 he was managing director of the Ulm farmers' association. Until 2003 he was President of the Association for Fisheries and Water Protection in Baden-Württemberg. Göbel was married and had three children.

Karl Göbel was awarded the 1st Class Federal Merit Award in 2001.

From 1984 to 2001 Göbel was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg for a total of four legislative periods . He represented constituency 64 ( Ulm ) and was energy and economic policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group.
