Karl Garzarolli-Thurnlackh , actually Karl Garzarolli von Thurnlackh , (born September 25, 1894 in Prague , † September 11, 1964 in Vienna ) was an Austrian art historian .

Live and act

Karl Garzarolli-Thrunlackh, son of the chemist Karl von Garzarolli-Thurnlackh (1854–1906), studied art history in Vienna and Graz and received his doctorate in 1920. In 1919 he became an assistant at the Landesmuseum Joanneum in Graz , from 1923 to 1946 head of its copper engraving cabinet and painting collection. He completed his habilitation in Vienna in 1946, and was ao in 1949. Appointed professor. In 1946/47 he was director of the Albertina and from 1947 to 1959 director of the Austrian Gallery in Vienna .

He was u. a. Member of the Innviertel artists' guild . Garzarolli-Thurnlackh was buried in the Sieveringer Friedhof (group 36, row 3, number 8).
