Karl Gottlieb von Tschepe

Karl Gottlieb von Tschepe (born October 3, 1740 in Weidenbach in the district of Oels ; † February 3, 1826 in Breslau ) was a royal Prussian major general, chief of Infantry Regiment No. 37 and heir to Neudorf ( district of Nimptsch ).

Life

origin

His parents were Karl Wenzel von Tschepe (* January 8, 1708; † November 8, 1785) - heir to Weidenbach, Quickendorf, Ober-Schönau (Oels) and district administrator of the Frankenstein district - and his wife Helene Eleonore von Kottulinsky († 8. September 1743) daughter George von Kottulinsky auf Schliech. The father married in 1746 after the early death of his wife Louise Friederike von Ohlen, daughter of Karl Gustav von Ohlen .

Military career

He became a private corporal in Infantry Regiment No. 42 in 1755 . During the Seven Years' War he took part in the battles near Prague and Landeshut (wounded) as well as the sieges of Prague and Olomouc . At that time he became ensign on August 30, 1757 and second lieutenant on May 23, 1759.

On March 30, 1764 he was Premier-Lieutenant and on December 1, 1776 Captain of the Staff. He then took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession , on August 1, 1778, he became a real captain and company commander. On March 18, 1788 he became major and on July 24, 1788 battalion commander. On January 1, 1796, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel, on October 6, 1797, he was commander of Regiment No. 42 and on June 25, 1798, colonel. At the revue in Warsaw on June 25, 1802 he received the Pour le Mérite . On May 20, 1804, he was appointed major general (patent dated May 24, 1804). On September 23, 1804, he became chief of Infantry Regiment No. 37 . In the First Coalition War he was made inactive on November 11, 1806 after the surrender of Magdeburg. He was cashed on September 19, 1809 and before a court martial. The court sentenced him to two years' imprisonment in Glatz . On January 3, 1810, he asked for a retrial, but it was refused. On January 10, 1801, however, he was granted 15 thalers a month for maintenance. He died blind on February 3, 1826 in Breslau.

He married on March 19, 1786 in Willowitz ( Tarnowitz district ) Josepha von Skrbensky (* 1763; † May 10, 1796) widow of Ludwig von Gordon († November 25, 1784) daughter of District Administrator Erdmann von Skrbensky . The couple had the following children:
