Karl Hermann Funkhänel

Karl Hermann Funkhänel , also Carl Hermann Funkhänel , (born August 5, 1808 in Johanngeorgenstadt , † August 18, 1874 in Eisenach ) was a German philologist and educator .

Life

The son of a shift supervisor attended school in Johanngeorgenstadt and in 1822 moved to the lyceum in Schneeberg (Ore Mountains) . In 1826 he began to study philology at the University of Leipzig . In 1828 he became a member of the Greek Society and in 1830 he obtained the degree of master's degree.

In 1831 his first publication appeared with the critical contributions to the speakers in the "Quaestiones Demosthenicae", which numerous followed until the end of his life.

In 1832 he took over the position of adjunct at the Nicolaischule in Leipzig , where he worked as a teacher until 1837. On January 8, 1838, he took over the position of director of the grammar school in Eisenach, where he worked until his death in 1874.
