Karl Jordan (painter)
Karl Jordan (also Carl Jordan; born May 19, 1863 in Bozen , South Tyrol , † May 2, 1946 in Leipzig ) was an Austrian genre and history painter.
The son of a bookbinder began his training with a frame maker and gilder.
Jordan studied from April 25, 1881 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich under Alexander Strähuber , Franz Defregger and Ludwig von Löfftz and received a Tyrolean state scholarship in 1888 .
From 1891 he was a teacher and from 1910 professor at the art school in Strasbourg , where Franz Xaver Dietrich was his student, from 1921 to 1928 professor at the art school in Aachen , after which he worked in Innsbruck .
He dedicated his history painting primarily to the history of Tyrol.
