Karl Julius Perleb

Karl Julius Perleb , also Carl Julius Perleb , baptized Carl Joseph (born May 20, 1794 in Konstanz , Upper Austria ; † June 11, 1845 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German botanist and naturalist . Its official botanical author's abbreviation is " Perleb ".

Live and act

Perleb studied from 1809 to 1811 at the University of Freiburg and received his doctorate there first in philosophy and 1815 in Medicine . A stay in Vienna followed. In 1818 he became a corresponding member of the fraternity cooperative / association for the processing of scientific subjects , from which the old Freiburg fraternity arose shortly afterwards . His habilitation followed in 1818 , in 1821 he became associate professor of natural history, in 1823 full professor, in 1826 director of the Botanical Garden in Freiburg and in 1838 prorector of the university.

He was the author of numerous scientific publications and a friend of the Freiburg historian Heinrich Schreiber (1793–1872).
